Duane Delaney : Result

We had eight Sundrive riders compete in the Duane Delaney Track Grand Prix with some notable performances in what for some was their first major track competition and for other the culmination of a lot of hard work over the past year. This competion was split in three grades as per our track league with riders competing in a five event omnium. We were ably represented by Sean Curtis in the A section and he placed 4th in this category and also impressed the organisers taking the Most Improved Male rider award.

In the B section we had Hugh Byrne who set two PBs in the time trial events but it was Sundrive rider Eoin Mullen from the Aran Islands who continues to impress everytime he takes to the track. He posted  well in the 200m TT but his 500m effort blew us all away when he posted a 38.38 - a time which bettered all the A riders and was only beaten by the Overall winner Terry Mackin (Ulster).

In the C section Andrea Fagan placed 2nd overall, with Alec Darragh 4th. Andrea showed she was the best of the female riders and is another rider who continues to improve and displayed some fine sprint ability.  Herself and Eoin will be ones to watch as they gain more experience and learn how to take full advantage of their ability.

All in all a great days racing with the Ulster Teams in each section riding intelligently and were alwatys a force to be reckoned with. Fast times posted by all our riders but more importantly much was learned!
